10 Ways to Grow Your Twitch Channel

You’ve finally done it: you are now a streamer.  However, even though you have tried your best, it seems impossible to create your own community, obtain more viewers, or earn revenue. How are you supposed to make a living out of this if your statistics don’t grow? In this post, you’ll learn the best tricks on how to grow a Twitch channel (even from scratch). 

Get paper and pencil, because we’re starting right away. 

1. Find your voice

Probably this isn’t the first post you read about this. For sure, many of the tips we’re going to give you, you already knew them. However, this is the tip that you should really pay the most attention to.

If you want to know how to make your Twitch channel grow, you have to find your niche, a place where you feel at ease, something in yourself that you think you could share with the world.

Even if you’re planning on streaming while playing Elden Ring, what does define you as a player? Do you have outstanding statistics? Or are you good at finding bugs? Maybe you’re the best game leader and that could improve your stream. 

Find that thing that truly defines you. Exploit it to build your personality as a content creator and also define the main features of your streaming.

2. Choose your time and stream constantly 

Your viewers like constancy. They like to know that you will always be available at a certain time of the day. That is how Twitch works: people like to watch streams regularly, as a routine. So, if you are going to do this, you need to ensure that you stick to the schedule you have chosen.

3. Avoid peak hours when streaming

Nevertheless, before you decide when you are going to stream, take this into consideration: you should avoid the busiest hours. It seems pretty obvious, but if you set a schedule having this in mind, you will instantly see the difference. 

It does not matter whether there are fewer people using Twitch at those times. You’ll find fewer competitors while streaming, and even if there aren’t as many viewers, you’ll be sure that a bigger part of them will choose your channel. 

We recommend you checking out the schedules from bigger streamers, and also the smaller ones that could compete with you. Find a space of your own and keep exploring other options until it works for you.

4. Choose your setup wisely (or optimize it)

High-quality visuals and audio are a must if you’re wondering how to grow your stream on Twitch. But hey, you do not need the latest PC or the next-generation microphone. As we have seen in the previous posts, it is possible to do real wonders with adequate settings on OBS. Moreover, if you add lighting to your setup, your streaming will take a huge leap in quality. 

Remember: don’t overdo it. The more equipment you add, the more complex it will be and the easier it will be for it to fail.

5. The usual: set your goals

Now that you know what kind of streamings you’re going to do, you have chosen your hours, and your setup, it’s time to set your goals. When are you planning on completing the Path to Partner? And then, how many subs you’d like to obtain per day? Is there any challenge that you would like to overcome? What about the game you’re playing? Can you set a goal there? 

It is an excellent idea that you choose a couple of goals that are focused on your channel’s growth, and then some that are intended only for entertainment and engaging your viewers.

6. Talk, ask questions and entertain 

Engagement, yes, that’s the key when thinking about how to grow a Twitch channel. This is not a surprise: if you want more viewers and, obviously, more subscribers, you need to figure out a way to make them stay and enjoy your streaming. 

Don’t be afraid to talk, to ask questions or to start a conversation on your chat. There are many reasons why they might enter your stream which do not depend on you. However, once they are in, make them stay. 

Talk about current topics, tell them something that has happened to you that they can relate to, ask them about their day, or maybe give your opinion on a new game. We know it’s hard to do so while you play, but with time you will get better.

All beginnings are difficult. And finding your first viewers can be frustrating. Don’t hesitate to ask your closest friends or even family to join your stream on the first days, so your channel seems more attractive to new users. 

If they see 5 to 6 people in your stream, it is more likely that they feel less threatened to click and join the conversation, rather than starting one from 0. 

8. Raid other streamers 

When raiding other streamers you get to do two things: meeting new possible partners and bringing your channel to a different audience. So, before you finish your stream, go ahead and raid someone. You will see after a time how much that can help you to make your Twitch channel grow.  

9. Use Twitter to meet new people

Social Media can be hard sometimes: now that you are a content creator, playing your favourite game may take the back seat. Even if that’s the only thing you might wanna do, you should make an effort and start using at least one of the big social media. 

A good place to start is Twitter. It won’t take you a lot of time, and you do not need to dance or do crazy challenges. Talk with streamers that share interests with you or retweet their posts. Replying to them will also give you a lot of visibility. 

If you are not used to this, start with small steps, like replying to one twit per day. Once you feel confident, increase your interactions and look for more complex tasks. Just be yourself and don’t say anything you wouldn’t say in real life. 

10. Show your highlights on social media 

Another way to grow a Twitch channel is by posting your clips and highlights on social media. If you do so, you won’t need to create brand new content, just show the best of what you already have.  

Instagram loves videos, and TikTok right now is on fire. Try to find trending audios or hits and add them to your clips, even if it’s a very low volume. This will boost your visibility.
